We’re just days away from 2013 and I wanted to share some year end cleanup and maintenance tips for bloggers.
1 Make sure everything is upgraded. Most bloggers are generally good with updating plugins in addition to their WordPress installation but if you use a theme, make sure that you are using the latest version. Often theme designers will issue updates for compatibility and security so check to make sure you have the latest version of your theme. I also recommend deleting any unused themes for security reasons.
2 Go Through Your Post Drafts. Remember that epic top 10 list you were going to put together last February? Well if it’s no longer relevant then go ahead and delete it. If you do plan on finishing the post, prioritize it with your current editorial calendar so it doesn’t get lost.
3 Review your analytics and review your biggest traffic drivers. Most bloggers use some kind of analytics tool but other than occasionally checking traffic, few bloggers leverage that data to its full potential. One easy post that you can do is putting together a top 10 posts of the year list which can serve as both link bait and additional internal links to your to performing posts.
